therapy Approach and Credentials

How we focus our attention and how we make sense of our experiences significantly affects the quality of our emotions, relationships, and overall mental and spiritual lives. Mental and emotional distress are made all the more crippling as they creep in the depths, beneath our field of awareness. As that which afflicts us is investigated with clarity and re-integrated into the narrative of our lives, the immovable rigidity or wild chaos that we may have felt can gradually come to an adaptive balance. It is here — at this balance point — that we can find ourselves surveying our own existence from the height of resilience.

I provide clients with a non-judgmental and person-centered presence as I help them author the narratives of their lives. My aim in therapeutic conversations is to help clients know themselves deeply, construct meaning from their experiences, and face the challenges and opportunities in life with skill and satisfaction. I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and (as an affiliate provider with the Center for Sexual and Relational Health) I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Candidate. As a Certified Level 2 Coach in the Unified Mindfulness system of meditation, I am excited to bring Mindful Awareness Practices into the therapy room as a primary mode of working with clients. In addition to specializing in mindfulness-based psychotherapy, I have also been trained in the Comprehensive Course of Interpersonal Neurobiology, and I have earned my 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training certification. Meditation, yoga, and insight into the way minds function are all areas of personal and professional enthusiasm — they have transformed who I am and have inspired me to share my interest and experience with others.
