My Role as Mindfulness Coach

What’s out there: something to be grateful for

We are all very fortunate to live during a time of such accessibility. Resources to help deal with suffering and build happiness in life are more available than ever. There are plenty wonderful online tools to help you learn ways of meditating and bringing mindfulness into your life (and, fortunately, many of them are free). As grateful as I am that those resources are so available to people, the services I provide as a mindfulness coach are different than learning to meditate online.

finding a “path”: Why my services are different

When I work with a client as a mindfulness trainer and/or meditation coach, the process involves a collaborative assessment of what distressing triggers are a part of the client’s life; and how those triggers may prevent the client in living a good and happy life — examples of what I mean by “distressing triggers” include things like: intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, chronic pain or discomfort, compulsive behaviors, and feelings of meaninglessness.

With this information (and drawing on my experience and training), the client and I work together to discover the most fitting and optimized mindfulness/meditation techniques that can be learned, practiced, deepened, and applied to daily life. This “deepening practice” can lead to liberating opportunities to engage with one’s own mind in a more empowering way — this is not freedom from distress, but freedom through it: as triggers are gradually experienced mindfully (and completely), a path of clarity and direction can begin to emerge from the shadowed horizon of pain.

Assurance: a good fit

Questions about how I approach this type of work are welcomed. The process really depends on a feeling of “good fit”: it is important that you decide if the way I work is right for your needs. If it would help you in making that decision, please feel free to call/text me at (864) 345-0193 before booking an appointment to set up a free phone/Zoom consultation.

Growth

My aim is to help each client skillfully use meditation practice and mindfulness in daily life to both find soothing relief from the difficulties of life and to escape into their own life as it is. These two sides of “practice” work hand-in-hand over time, and the techniques I can share with you will help facilitate that work.
